News that a classic Aston Martin, full of James Bond gadgets, is to be sold at auction this Saturday 12 July 2014 may leave you yearning for a piece of the action for yourself. The idea of blasting through the Alps in a classic sports car with nothing on the horizon but a vodka martini and a suitcase full of secrets may leave you shaken and stirred, but sadly it is beyond the financial reach of most non-spies. Coys, auctioneers of the aforementioned DB 2/4 Vantage (below), were unable to speculate how much it would sell for, but it is likely to be an eye-watering sum.
VW Beetle R Concept arrives at Frankfurt
We did speculate back in June that Volkswagen were planning on giving the new VW Beetle some butch credentials by endowing it with a new performance range-topper – the VW Beetle R. And today at Frankfurt the new hot Beetle takes a bow. VW are dubbing the Beetle R Concept, but it’s clear that they want the new Beetle to be perceived as more appealing to men as well as women; to those who enjoy the drive as well as to those who buy a car to make a style declaration.
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. closed its design studio in Cypress, CA last Thursday – just one month shy of its 25th anniversary. A result of the recent downturn in the global economy, the closure of the facility will eliminate 33 design positions as part of a personnel cull that has seen 60 people within the automaker's US operations lose their jobs.
